Light is symbolic of God's power, presence, truth and activity among us. Light also represents believers, the church, the Word of God, Jesus Christ, prosperity and Our Heavenly Home.
Genesis records the creation of light by God (Gen. 1:3-4) God created the light and He said It is good.
God has always had knowledge of good and evil throughout eternity. He is the light and in Him is goodness. The light in Genesis is given to us by the Creator to enjoy. This light is symbolic of the nature of God, in many respects.
The Word of God tells us in Romans that God's presence is manifested all around us in nature. No one is without excuse because through nature God has told us that He exists. He has made Himself known to us all. One only has to take a look at a sunrise, the beginning of a new day, life as it awakes in the dawning of a early morn, to soon realize that these things just didn't happen on their own.
The magnificence of the Creator!! The Almighty God!
Light dispels darkness.
Light gives revelation.
Light gives us the ability to find our way without stumbling and falling.
Light gives life.
The Bible tells us that God is light. This is found in 1John 1:5 and tells us: "This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all."
In Him there is no darkness. That is in Him there is nothing hidden, deceitful, or wicked.
God does not waver or change His mind. He is consistent and steadfast in all things.
All good things come from Him. James 1:17 states this:" Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning."
All those who invite Jesus Christ into their heart as Savior have the light of God within them. Just imagine that! The very presence and essence of the living God, the very power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead, lives within every newborn babe in Christ.
It is this very power, through the ministry of God's Spirit, the Holy Spirit, that regenerates us to live this new life. For without Jesus, we can do nothing. Only He can accomplish the impossible through us. Praise God!
John 1:9 tells us Jesus is the true Light. He takes away the veil from our spiritual eyes to give us revelation of truth. The truth of God's Word sets us free to become the children of Light.
Lets take a look at this verse.
That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. John 1:9
Jesus Himself tells us that He is the Light. He is the Way. He will guide us and lead us in all ways.
John 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
2Corinthians 4:6 tells us this of Jesus.
"For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ."
Jesus wants to impart to us. He imparts something about God the Father to us through His Personage. The Word tells us that Jesus is representative of the Father. Jesus Christ wants to impart to us a revelation of knowledge and understanding of Who the Father is so we will understand the magnificence of His Glory, power, and saving grace.
He is the light that reveals the Salvation Plan of God. It is this light that opens eyes, hearts and minds and cuts through the darkness to the realization that the Blood of Christ washes away sin, purifies, and makes all things new.
Darkness does not comprehend the light. In other words, the natural man cannot understand the things of God. They must be discerned supernaturally.
It is the light that further reveals to the spirit of man that old things have passed away, and when Jesus Christ becomes Lord of All, that old person who used to exist. the old man...becomes a new person in the Lord.
Everyone who accepts Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior is transformed through the power of the Holy Spirit. Through salvation, our heart is changed in such a way that it is literally a miracle. All of a sudden , hatred for other people is gone. The light of truth dissolves it away and replaces that emotion with love through the Spirit of God. The World becomes a different place as the new believer sees through the eyes of God...from His perspective. There is a craving for the Word of God, which renews the mind and gives spiritual growth as God speaks to us through that Word.
The Word , by the way, is light. It gives revelation and keeps us from stumbling in the dark and falling. That is because it is truth and there is no darkness in the things of God.
Ps 119:105 NUN. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Those who remain in darkness, do so because they are comfortable in their sin state and want to think they can hide from God. Their life and deeds are controlled by the evil one, Satan. Therefore, their deeds are evil in heart.
Those who become believers are called the children of light. As children of God, they are no longer condemned, but are freed by the blood of Jesus.
We find this in these verses of Scripture:
John 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
John 12:36 While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.
Those who become believers need not fear darkness. Not only is God, Jesus, The Holy Spirit and His Word light, but our promised heavenly home is also well lit. Revelation states that God will lighten that heavenly city and the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ, is the light.
Praise God! In Heaven there will be no more hunger, thirst, illness or evil of any kind. The darkness will be gone. God Himself shall wipe away every tear ever shed.
And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it. And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there. Re 21:23 -25
I thank God for the light and the light of His salvation, the Precious Lamb, Jesus Christ.
If you want to accept Jesus as your own personal Lord and Savior, pray this prayer with me: Lord Jesus, I know I have sinned. Your Word tells us that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. I now confess those sins to you, ask You to come into my heart, cleanse me with Your Blood, and fill me with Your Holy Spirit. I make you Lord of My life. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen.
